More-Than-Human is Portland’s hub for local events that celebrate the natural world. Find a class, join a walk, and connect with community.
More than just an event calendar, we hope to be a resource that helps people find connection with the world around them. By bringing together wildlife- and ecology-focused events from across the Portland area and beyond, we aim to inspire curiosity, build community, and celebrate the incredible ecosystems we’re part of.
Our city is fortunate to have an abundance of nature-based programs, made possible by the passionate organizations, educators, volunteers, and grant-funded initiatives that provide free and low-cost opportunities to connect with the land. From bird walks and foraging workshops to ecology talks and hands-on craft sessions, these events help people engage with the more-than-human world in meaningful ways.
More-Than-Human exists to celebrate and support these efforts by bringing them all into one place—making them easier to find, explore, and share. By highlighting the work of local nature educators and organizations, we hope to inspire curiosity, deepen connections with the land, and foster a thriving community of learners and stewards.

Across our city, nature education programs are working toward a common goal: fostering a deeper connection between people and the land.
Through guided experiences like bird walks, foraging workshops, and ecology talks, these programs spark wonder and invite exploration.
By offering free and low-cost events, these programs ensure that learning about the natural world is accessible to all.
More than just education, these experiences encourage a reciprocal connection—where we not only learn from nature but also recognize our place within it.
Through shared knowledge and hands-on engagement, these programs inspire individuals to care for and protect the ecosystems we all depend on.
